Lviv. Skansen. Shevchenko Grove

The Museum of Folk Architecture and Life in Lviv, also known as Skansen, an open air museum, named after the Archimandrite Clement Sheptytsky. He began his work on the museum in 1930, when the first landmark of Ukrainian folk architecture was relocated to the museum. It was the Nykola’s Church built in 1763 from the village of Kryvka, Turkiv district. This relocation of folk architecture continued from 1966 until 1971 until the museum was finally completed and opened to the general public.

Skansen is organized on the principle division of historical and ethnographic regions of Western Ukraine: Boykivshchyna, Hutsulshchyna, Lemkivshchyna, Podillya, Polissia, Volyn, Plain Prycarpathia, Pokuttya and Bukovyna, Lviv region. Today there are more than 100 architectural monuments, and 54 estates. In total, the museum has almost 22,000 exhibits.

The total area of the museum is 50 hectares. There are microvillages with household and small business complexes of various social groups. In residential and outbuildings there are clothes, household items, tools, tools of agriculture, and even vehicles. Part of the recreation are corresponding interiors of churches, bell towers, and chapels. All churches are actively used to this day.

Church of St. Volodymyr and Olga, recreated in 1992 from new material on the model of the church of 1831 from the village of Kotan (Republic of Poland), is an adornment of the sector "Lemkivshchyna", the design of the area is continuing.

Музей народної архітектури і побуту у Львові імені священномученика Климентія Шептицького – музей просто неба — скансен — почав творитися у Львові у 1930 р., коли сюди перевезли визначну пам'ятку української народної архітектури — Миколаївську церкву (1763) зі села Кривка Турківського району. Pобота над створенням продовжилася у 1966 р., а відкрито музей вже у 1971 р.

Скансен організований за принципом поділу історико-етнографічних регіонів Західної України: Бойківщина, Гуцульщина, Лемківщина, Поділля, Полісся, Волинь, Рівнинне Закарпаття, Покуття і Буковина, Львівщина. Сьогодні тут представлено понад 100 пам'яток архітектури (54 садиби). Загалом фонди музею налічують майже 22 тисячі експонатів.

На загальній площі 50 га розміщені мікросела з побутово-виробничими комплексами різних соціальних груп. У житлових і господарських спорудах представлені одяг, побутові речі, інструменти, знаряддя сільського господарства, транспортні засоби. Також відтворені відповідні інтер'єри церков (їх тут сім, й усі діючі!), дзвіниць і каплиць.

Церква св. Володимира і Ольги, відтворена у 1992 р. з нового матеріалу за взірцем храму 1831 р. зі села Котань (Республіка Польща), є окрасою сектору "Лемківщина", формування якого продовжується.
