Pidhirtsi.  Basilian Monastery

Pidhirtsi Monastery is a Basilian male monastery in the village of Pidhirtsi in Lviv region. It belongs to theUkrainian Greek Catholic Church.  This is an architectural monument of the XVIII century. It’s located in the valley among the forests. Above the monastery is the famous settlement Plisnesko - the remains of an ancient city mentioned in the Chronicle of Rus’ under 1188 year, as well as in the "Word of Igor's Regiment".

In 1946, the Basilian monastery was liquidated, all the monks (fathers and brothers) were arrested and exiled by the decision of the soviet authorities and Monastery was turned into a tuberculosis sanatorium. 

In 1989, for the first time since its closure, the Church celebrated the Christmas Divine Liturgy. Today, as throughout its history, Pidhirtsi or, as it has long been called, the Plisnesko Monastery attracts many pilgrims.

Підгірці. Василіянський Mонастир

Підгорецький монастир — Василіянський чоловічий монастир в селі Підгірці на Львівщині. Належить Українській Греко-Католицькій Церкві. Пам'ятка архітектури XVIII століття. Розташований у долині серед лісів. Вище монастиря лежить відоме городище Пліснесько — залишки стародавнього міста, згаданого в Літописі Руському під 1188 роком, а також у «Слові о полку Ігоревім».

У 1946 році Василіянський монастир ліквідували, а отців й братів монахів рішенням радянської влади піддали арешту та засланням. За радянських часів  у приміщеннях монастиря був туберкульозний санаторій.

 У 1989 році у храмі вперше після закриття була відслужена різдвяна божественна літургія. Сьогодні, як і впродовж своєї історії, Підгорецький або, як ще його здавна називають, Пліснеський, монастир притягує багатьох паломників.
