Lviv. Halytska Square

Halytska Square is located on the territory of the former Halytska (Galician) suburb, which began from the Halytska Gate (now here is the completion of Halytska Street).

The Halytska square resembles the letter T, the top of which rests on the Cathedral Square, and the leg - in Mickiewicz Square. The houses, the facades of which overlook the north side of the square, are assigned to Valova and Halytska streets.

In 2001, a 10 meters high equestrian monument to King Danylo was installed on the square, made of granite and bronze. King Danylo sits on a horse without a crown, which, along with a trident, is attached to the pedestal under the hooves. The masquerading lions in the corners of the pedestal and griffins on the rider's saddle contemplate on the four sides of the world. The King's face is facing the ancient Galician way - now Halytska and Prince Roman streets.

Площа Галицьказнаходиться на теренах колишнього Галицького передмістя, що розпочиналося від Галицькою брами (тепер тут завершення вул. Галицької). Від цієї середньовічної брами у давнину розходилися шляхи на південний схід – на Галич та до карпатських перевалів і соляних копалень.

У плані Галицька площа нагадує літеру Т, верх якої впирається у площу Соборну, а ніжка - у площу Міцкевича. Будинки, фасади яких виходять на північну сторону площі, приписані до вулиць Валової та Галицької.

У 2001 році на площі встановили кінний пам'ятник королю Данилу заввишки 10 метрів, виконаний із граніту та бронзи. Король Данило сидить на коні без корони, яка, разом з тризубом, прикріплена до постаменту під копитами. На чотири сторони світу споглядають маскарони левів в кутах постаменту та грифони на сідлі вершника. Обличчям король звернений до давнього Галицького шляху - нині вулиці  Галицька та Князя Романа.
